Back from Warped

July 2nd, 2008

warped tour

Well, as many times as I’ve said that it’d be my last time going to the warped tour, I still find a way back there. So, I went to the Warped Tour yesterday. I surprisingly had a pretty good time. The weather wasn’t too bad. It was a nice day, but it wasn’t too hot. And I finally got to see the nerdcore rapper, MC Chris! woohoo!

So, I’ll have my annual warped tour review before the end of the week. I also have a couple other articles on deck: a new rollercoaster review & my Branson article. I just need to sort through the tons of pictures.

If you saw me yesterday out at warped tour wearing my half-assed productions shirt leave me a comment say hello. And, sorry if you’re disappointed. I can post your demo tape if you want! :)

Celebrating 10 years of legal drinking!

June 25th, 2008

me & batman

Well, today is my birthday. I’m 31. Wow, I’m getting old. I don’t really have much planned for today. In fact, I didn’t take off work or anything. It’s basically going to be a normal day. Tonight my parents are taking me out to Longhorn Steakhouse. When your birthday falls on a Wednesday, there really isn’t much you can do.

I always loved the date of my birthday. It’s exactly 6 months from Christmas. That means you have 6 months to save up to buy me a good birthday present & 6 months to save up to buy me a good Christmas present. It couldn’t be more perfect right? Of course, I’ve got a little nephew born on Christmas Day, so I’m sure there’ll be more fuss about his “half” birthday today. But, he does turn 2 1/2 today, that’s a momentous occassion!

Anyway, start saving your money, only six more months until Christmas.

Get Smart - Movie Review

June 23rd, 2008

Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted something on here. You can tell that the summer must be starting. You’re seeing less & less of Greg in the virtual world. I’ll try to keep my updates / articles more often then I have the past few weeks.

Since summer is finally here, I keep getting inspired to do some video, maybe more half-assed tv. But, I’ve been talking about that forever. Talk is cheap. You want to see a product. Well, maybe someday this summer I’ll surprise you. Who knows?

Anyway, with summer “officially” here, I saw another summer blockbuster:

get smart
Get Smart

I saw “Get Smart” yesterday. I used to watch the TV show all the time when it was on Nick at Nite, and then recently, I’ve been watching it on a local tv station called RTN, which plays old TV shows 24/7. The TV show is good, but I never thought it was hilarious. It definitely had it’s moments, but never like the Simpsons or Seinfeld to me.

The movie differs a little from the TV show. Some of the technology they used in the tv show that looked very futuristic is actually ready available to any 10 year old. The patented “shoe phone” makes an appearance. But they really have some cool “James Bond” type gadgets. Steve Carell makes a perfect Maxwell Smart. He plays just as good as Don Adams did. Although, the movie version of Maxwell smart was not as clueless as the original was. Anyway, it was a great movie. Lots of action & lots of laughs. Oh and Anne Hathaway was hot! There was definitely a tivo moment in the movie where you wish you could pause the whole movie. She gets caught in here underwear for .00009 seconds.

I definitely recommend the movie. It’s the best comedy so far this summer. Of course, it’s the only comedy I’ve seen this summer.

Dethklok

June 9th, 2008

Dethklok

Okay, apparently, I’ve been living under a rock or something. About a 2 years ago, I remember watching an episode of “Metalocalypse” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. I thought it was a pretty good show. But, other than that, I never watched it again.

Fast forward to today. Dish Network has Cartoon Network HD. So, anything recorded in Hi-Def, I tend to give more of a glance to, than normal SD program. That’s when I re-discovered, Metalocalypse. It’s a cartoon in HD, wow! Also, it’s freakin’ hilarious! I added it to my DVR Pass, so it’s recording all the missed episodes. So far, I guess I’ve seen about 6 episodes.

For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about. Metalocalypse is the story of a death metal band, called “Dethklok”. They are the most popular band in the world, and the government is watching every one of their moves. They go on tour & adventures to different places. You just have to watch it.

My favorite episode so far is when Dethklok summoned a Giant troll in Finland. The troll started destroying everything, including all electricity. The band members were upset because they couldn’t use the hi-speed internet because the lack of power. So, they rocked out on some acoustic instruments (even though they weren’t metal!) to put the troll back into a slumber.

To quote Nathan Explosion: “We have a tough choice. Playing acoustic is totally lame and not metal. But then again, if we don’t put that troll back to sleep, we may never be able to check our e-mail with high-speed DSL again!”

Rock On!

Indiana Jones Cereal!

May 21st, 2008

indiana jones cereal

Well, I just got back from the store, and I found another Indiana Jones promotion. If he isn’t plastered already on every box of Kelloggs cereal, now he’s got his own cereal. It’s basically like Count Chocula. It’s like archeology cereal. Chocolate cereal with marshmallow bones & other items you can “dig” up.

I hope this movie lives up to the hype. I’ll be seeing it tomorrow.

Summer Movie Promotions

May 16th, 2008

Today, I bring a new article looking at the many promotions for summer movies. I walked through the aisles of the grocery store last night, wondering if drinking a can of Indiana Jones Dr. Pepper will get me more pumped up for the movie. Click on the “Corny” picture above to check out my latest article.

twiki!

Someone created some software that I can watch the “Watch Now” movies from my netflix account on my xbox 360! So, last night, I spent it watching several episodes of Buck Rogers. It does seem dated now, but it brought back a lot of memories. I also noticed that Erin Gray was pretty hot in her day. The only one I actually remember from the show was Twiki the robot. I don’t know how I remember this at all, since this came out in ‘79. I would have been 2 years old.
