The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn Part 1 – Review
The movie starts out with the much-anticipated wedding of the century. A lavish and elegant outdoor wedding surrounded by friends and family in which Bella and Edward finally take their vows and become husband and wife. The married couple then take off for a romantic honeymoon to a remote tropical island near Rio de Janeiro to consummate their relationship. The honeymoon gets cut short, when Bella realizes that she is pregnant. The pregnancy advances must faster than a normal human pregnancy would, and is slowly killing Bella by draining her of all nutrition. This pregnancy now voids the long-standing vampire/lupine treaty. The werewolves decide that Bella and her unborn child are a danger and must be destroyed. Jacob, Edward, and the rest of the Cullen clan come together to protect Bella and the child that she is carrying. While the battle between the werewolves and vampires looms outside the Cullen home, Bella goes into labor. During a nearly fatal childbirth, Edward finally fulfills her wish to become immortal in order to save her life.
The Breaking Dawn Part I movie was brilliant! The characters of Bella, Edward, and Jacob have evolved since the first movie and the actors abilities have grown tremendously. I found myself laughing in many scenes followed by heartfelt tears in others. This PG 13 movie was produced very tastefully without losing any of the essence of the book. For those who haven’t read the books, it remained easy to follow. I specifically enjoyed the one liners in the wedding reception scene, the interactions between Jacob and Edward, and the territorial dynamics of the wolf pack. Great Movie!!!!
