My Favs of the 00’s
Happy New Year and all that crap. Time for another list of my favorites. We put an end to another decade the other night. Yeah, don’t give me any semantics about it’s only the 9th year in this decade. Whatever. I mean, when I talk about the 80s, I mean 1980 through 1989, same with the 90s, and I’m going to say the same about the 00s. I’m talking about 2000 – 2009. That’s ten years, and that equals a decade.
Now that we got that out of the way. On New Years Eve I was talking to my brother Jeff about his Favorites in the past decade. He couldn’t think of anything. I’m pretty much the same way. So, I’ll just go down my top fives of things that I can actually remember. I think I drank too much this decade.
TV
I’m fascinated with any shows where they conduct experiments. I grew up watching Mr. Wizard’s World on Nickelodeon. And even though this really isn’t a “science” show per se, it’s still just as fun. What other show do they work for days to build something only to blow it up at the end. I’ve been hooked on this show ever since their first myth, Pop-Rocks & Coke. (BTW: that won’t make your stomach explode)
4. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
This show can be very weird at times, but it’s like a bad accident, you can’t look away. I discovered this by accident about 5 years ago. They’ve added Danny Devito since the first season, but I think he works well in the mix. I would have to say though, my favorite episode was this past season. The gang went on a road trip where they never made it out of Philadelphia. My question is, how do any of these guys have any money, there’s never anyone in the bar.
When I first saw there was going to be an American version of “The Office”, I avoided it. Everyone told me the original “The Office” was awesome. I tried watching the dvd of season one. I got through about half an episode. I just couldn’t get in to it. maybe it was the accents, or maybe something else. I just didn’t like it. So, I avoided the American version, until I caught it after the premiere of “My Name is Earl” Anyway, I loved it. If you haven’t seen this show, where have you been? Watch it now!
“Curb” continues where Seinfeld left off. Its the exact type humor. Except, it’s a little more edgy since it’s on HBO. This is the best comedy on TV. There is no comedy better. The real world situations that Larry David gets in are so ridiculously funny. This show is so good, its also on my top tv shows of all time.
Okay, let me be completely honest with you. I never got into the whole Lost universe. They’ve had 5 seasons so far, this season will be the 6th & final season. I never missed the show for any reason or protest, I don’t know why I missed it. But, I changed that a few months ago. Netflix has put ever episode of “Lost” up on their “Watch Instantly” videos. I’ve watched every episode. I was hooked. It took me about 2 months to get through all the episodes. For those who haven’t checked this out, watch it now! It’s mystery / action / adventure / sci-fi, every nerd’s dream for a good show.
Movies
This is a tough category for me. The problem is, I like a lot of movies. I’m a huge movie buff. Of course, my favorites usually end up dealing with a comic book character, a zombie, or some dick & fart jokes. So, I don’t think I can come up with a top 5 list. So, instead here’s a few movies from this decade that you should definitely check out: Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Spiderman 1, X-Men 2, Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Knocked Up, Superbad, Idiocracy, Inglorious Bastards, Kill Bill 1&2, Grindhouse, The Incredibles, Shrek 1, … etc. etc..
There’s about 1000 movies I could put here. The problem is, I like tons of movies! I even liked the First Transformers movie. But, as far as Transformers 2 goes, that one definitely gets my most horrible movie of the decade. I mean, they gave testicles to the Constructicon!! ugghh..
Other
There’s many other favorite things of the decade that I have to make note of.
Howard Stern’s move to Sirius Satellite Radio
I can’t get through my commute to work every morning without Howard. Since he’s moved to Sirius, sure it’s been edgier. But, it’s also gotten much better. It’s people talking like normal people. They don’t have to talk in baby talk or in code, nor do they get bleeped for discussing a toilet. The funny thing is, the swearing is very minimum on the show.
The creation of [adult swim]
In 2001, The finally created a late night block of animated programming aimed towards adults. The funny thing is, in the early years when cartoons were first introduced, they were aimed towards adults and not kids. Anyway, Us 18+ crowd finally get some fantastic cartoons. Okay, some are better than others.
High Speed Internet
I didn’t get High Speed Internet until about 2002. Many people may of gotten it earlier. But, there is no way I’d go back to dial up again. It actually amazes me when I do housecalls sometimes the people that still have dialup. Ugghhh..
Half-Assed Productions.
And lastly, my humble website / project. Started in 2005. The last couple years, I’ve been really lacking with articles. I guess I should make it a resolution to actually put more effort into that this year.
Anyway.. I guess that’s it for my favorites of the decade. So, what are your favorites? Post them in the comments…

i think satellite radio did not gain so much popularity these days.”.~
Satellite Radio did not gain so much popularity as expected, maybe because of the reason that it is expensive..-“
i think that satellite radio would also become popular in the years to come because of its great coverage area `:~
