Midwest Earthquake?
Well about 4:30 this morning, I woke up and wondered who was shaking me. Then I realized my bed was shaking, not only the bed, but the whole house. I looked out my back windows where a cemetery resides. I made sure there wasn’t a bunch of zombies trying to knock over my house. Since that wasn’t the case, I checked the front of the house for a dump truck driving in my front yard. Then I got a text message from a friend of mine saying “Did you feel that?”
After I received the text, I realized I wasn’t going crazy. It must have been an earthquake. I’ve never been in an earthquake in the 30 years of my life. The only thing close to one was a simulation they have at the St. Louis Science Center.
I’m sure this isn’t a big deal to people who live in California who have Earthquakes pretty frequently. But for me, It was pretty wild. I realized that I probably didn’t react properly. Instead of remaining in my bed, I should have stood in a door frame. I’ll know next time when I’m 60 years old what to do. It was very minor around the St. Louis area. It was just a little shaking. It measured a 5.4 on the richter scale. The epicenter was in Southeast Illinois, about 300 miles away from me.
Other than that, it’s been a pretty uneventful week.
